So my friend
tzikehwent home last night. We had an awesome fun visit. She's a friend from the Sherlock fandom so yeah, there was a reason she came this particular weekend. Saturday night we had an outing for dinner with Rachel and my hiking buddy Sara, then we met Dayna to go see "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" which was very good but one of the most unusual and challenging films I've seen in a long time.
Sunday was all about the Sherlock series 2 finale, as I'm sure a lot of you have seen various flisters wailing about. It was astonishingly good. Everything I feared they'd do, they did not do, and everything I hoped they'd do, they did and then some. It was more than I really dared hope for in that storyline and thank GOD they gave us the ending they did...and then immediately announced that series 3 has been commissioned for ages, which given how cagey they've been about doing a third series is predictably, typically trollish of Moffat and Gatiss. They do derive exquisite joy from torturing their fandom and gleefully cackle about it on Twitter. It really is quite entertaining. But they won't be able to film until late in 2012 so it'll be at least a year. Hey, we waited for this series, we can do it again.
And if anyone still doubted that Freeman and Cumberbatch are scarily awesome actors...well, they shouldn't do that anymore. And between them they seem determined to CONQUER ALL THE FANDOMS. Freeman has now played three of the most iconic characters in all of literature (Arthur Dent, Dr. Watson and Bilbo Baggins) and with Benedict's new role in the "Star Trek" sequel and his part in "The Hobbit" he's becoming the Kevin Bacon of the fannish world.
