So here I am, unexpectedly, at the airport.

I had decided last week that I'd go up to Chicago this weekend to see the family I didn't see at Christmas. My cousin just got her Master's degree and they're having a bit of a party for her. Heck, I can shoot up there for overnight. It's not that far.

Weellllll the weather's not so great. Indiana and Ohio are getting not super heavy but steady snow, enough to make driving irritating. On a whim late last night I went to Priceline to check out how much it would cost me to fly. Now, driving isn't super cheap either. Round trip it's about 2.5-3 tanks of gas, so that's $120 right there. Plus tolls round trip, $30, plus figure another $10-$20 for road food, etc. So that's like $150 to drive it. I found a flight for less than $200. And I got a rental car for pretty much free since it was less than 24 hours I'd have it. And it's totally worth the extra what, thirty forty bucks just not to have to drive in the snow for five hours each way.

It felt profoundly weird to buy a plane ticket for the very next day. Heh.

Anyhow, back tomorrow!
