Having dinner with
rachet tonight! Yay! I'm excited to give her her Christmas presents.
I listen to my iPod most days at work, for most of the day. My job is pretty solitary and it needs mental focus; having music helps me maintain my attention. Sometimes I listen to podcasts, if I have any new ones available, but most of the time it's music. An album, a playlist, an artist, whatever.
For the last week or so I have been listening nonstop to a very short eight-song playlist over and over and over again. These eight songs are the ones that I'm particularly obsessed with right now, or are particularly motivating for work.
"Grenade" by Bruno Mars. This song is just awesome. Given how annoying I found his previous single, "Just the Way You Are," I didn't expect to like anything else he did, but then I heard this one. It's so different in tone. Depressing lyrics. Haunting chorus. LOVE.
"Dog Days Are Over" by Florence and the Machine. I know everybody's all about this album right now. I have the album but I haven't listened to it yet because I'm too busy listening to this song endlessly.
"We R Who We R" by Ke$ha. I know, I know. Ke$ha is so nasty. Her previous singles were good for the exercise playlist but this one...I dunno, there's something about it. It helps me avoid brain drain. Plus I too, like her, am sick and sexified.
"Raise Your Glass" by Pink. I love Pink. Pink is awesome. All songs should be by Pink. Oh, and call me up if you want gangster.
"Shadow of the Day" by Linkin Park. This song isn't new but it's my favorite Linkin Park song. It's all bombastic and earnest and power-ballady and it is awesome.
"In My Head" by Jason DeRulo. DeRulo's other songs, like Ke$ha's, are good for the exercise playlist, but for some reason I just love this one to pieces.
"Praan" by Garry Schyman. This one is obscure. If you've ever seen the "Where in the World is Andy" dancing videos, this is the song that's on the 2008 dancing video. It's all new age-y and adult-contemporary-ethnic-pop and I could listen to it forever.
"Stereo Love" by Edward Maya. I got kind of fixated on this song this summer during hiking outings. I love the sort of vaguely gypsy-sounding leitmotif it uses.
So what are YOU listening to on endless repeat these days?
