I actually sent someone's $1,074 payment back to them yesterday, with a note telling them to never call or email me again, that I don't need a liar's business.
Background is obviously required- This customer contacted me back in September about a coin I had on the website. I gave him a quote, expecting the payment to be sent forthwith. Two weeks later he emailed (after I had sent 2 emails asking if payment had been sent) saying he would take them only if I lowered my price (about 3%). I had a little room, and it was an item I was happy to get rid of, so I agreed. After a week I emailed asking if he was actually sending payment, and he emailed back that it was already sent, I should have it. 12 days later he emailed saying the payment was sent a few days before. It arrived 2 days later, postmarked the day he had emailed. Plus he short-paid it, deducting the shipping charges of $11. I should have returned his money then, but it arrived when I really needed it, still made a profit on the deal. I just sent his coin out and said nothing.
Last weekend (Sunday the 22nd) he called. I did not realize it was the same person (it has been 3 months and hundreds of customers) and requested pricing on a few foreign gold coins. I gave pricing and said payment must be sent Monday, as it was very good pricing. He called Thursday (by this time I had figured out who this person was) and asked if I got the payment. I asked when it was sent, he said Tuesday. I just about lost it, but he said he got to the Post Office late and they could not sell him a money order. So I let it go.
It showed up Saturday, postmarked THURSDAY. Yeah, un-fucking cool. He's Russian- I have no idea if that affects his idea of how things should work- but it seems this particular Russian is an ass.
I didn't get into business to put up with liars. That is
kitiara's job.
