Black Friday- the Legend

Nov 27, 2009 18:52

Usually I stay at home on Black Friday, no matter what the specials are it is just not worth it to fight the crowds.

Today I had to do a couple chores and I had noticed that Staples' Black Friday ad included an Acer 23" widescreen LCD monitor for $140. I drove past the Walmart and the parking lot was full. I drove past the big mall and it looked like a zoo. I decided that if the Staples lot was packed I would just keep going (traffic was not a problem though). I had already figured that if it was too busy or the monitor was out of stock I would save myself some money.

I arrived, and the lot was maybe 1/3 full. I walked in and all the doorbuster piles by the cash register are still there. Everything listed in the ad was still available. I asked someone if they had any of the Acer monitors, turns out they still had 2 (started with 4).

I can't believe how simple it was. No crowds, no disappointment. I have the distinct feeling that Christmas this year is going to be a bust for the economy.

Or Staples just has the wrong stuff for sale.
