Outsourcing and the press

I remember several years ago how the financial reporters were praising the trend of outsourcing- the notion that someone in India or the Philippines could do the back office or accounting work as part of a worldwide team.

Many people (not just Lou Dobbs) thought this was a disturbing trend. But not reporters. I read an article postulating that perhaps it was because reporters/editors/copy-writers did not feel threatened by this trend- after all, like home-builders and plumbers their well-paid elitist jobs were safe, reporters need to be where the news occurred here in the US.

They got it wrong. Look at who wrote the article.
