In connection with the conversation at REv-E's blog, what were the best concerts and ones you have been most jealous of.
Let us break it down into four questions, shall we?
1) Best concert (big show) you have been to? Big show is defined as seating more than 3,000 people.
2) Best small show you have been to? Small show refers to seating under 3,000 people. It's comparing apples to oranges to compare seeing a stunning show at the Ark to seeing an arena rock show.
3) Big show you are most jealous of? The concert where someone you were close to AT THE TIME OF THE SHOW went to a concert or show and you did not attend due to lack of tickets/interfering event/complaints of significant other, etc. The AT THE TIME OF constraint does place some limits. Yeah, your uncle Steve went to Woodstock. I pribably walked past a guy in Detroit one day who saw Robert Johnson in a Louisiana juke in 1936. It doesn't count. As a matter of fact, for veracity, tell us who the person was who saw the show when you didn't.
4) Small show you are most jealous of?
Answers will be utterly not confidential. I deserve to get laughed at for the shows I missed. Besides, they were all seen by Darren.
My answers:
1) Pink Floyd/Division Bell/1994/Pontiac Silverdome. I saw the first night where they did NOT play the entirety of Dark Side of the Moon. Unbelievable show.
Runners up: Roger Waters/In The Flesh/1999/Pine Knob
Queen/Paul Rodgers/2006/Pine Knob
2) Warren Zevon/1999 - Unsigned/7th House Zevon was not signed to a record label and this tour and the songs he played on it propelled him into a contract and the Life Will Kill You album.
Runners up: Loudon Wainwright III/2005/The Ark
Warren Zevon/1994/Mutineer/The Ritz
3) Guns 'n Roses/Metallica/Opener - Faith No More/1991. Darren went. I think he went with my sister.
4) Eric Bogosian - Pounding Nails Into the Floor With My Forehead. Darren and Dwayne went. I stayed home with KAS. Good thinking.
I am geniunely curious.
