Oh wait, I totally have stuff I can write about.

Earlier this month I went down to Manteo with my dad just to look around and see all the galleries and such. One of the gallery owners wanted me to bring him some of my artwork to look at. I did so that Friday, and he (Scott) loved my scratchboards and even said the blue crab I did for my dad back in 2006 would be priced at $500 if it was in his shop!!

He only sells artwork for artists who actually live in the OBX (I live a few minutes north), so he put me in touch with another gallery owner, Eve. She owns the Yellowhouse Gallery in Nags Head. I met with her the following Monday and she loved my stuff as well. I am working on a few things now to hang in her gallery, as well as looking into getting prints of some pieces made. My dad refuses to sell his crab, haha, but he will allow me to sell prints of it.

The art community down here is great. There is the Dare County Arts Council that I plan on joining. They have a gallery in Manteo and will hang members pieces for sale for three month at a time at the usual 60/40 commission. If you volunteer for a minimum of one four hour shift to "gallery sit" you get 75% instead of 60%. Things will be super slow now that tourist season is over, but it gives me a few months to pump out some artwork, and really give it a go next season. I'm excited and feel super blessed.

I also just set up a facebook page for my art, meager as my portfolio is so far. If you have facebook, go "like" it please!
