I got a new laptop in April and it's really been spectacular. It's incredibly fast and although the battery accounts for 99% of it's total weight, it has a battery life that makes me practically giddy.
Unfortunately, Winston (my laptop) has been experiencing a transient electrical issue wherein it has difficulty resuming from sleep mode. Poor Winston tries to resume and goes "click!" It then gets stuck in a power up/shut down cycle. After running all the usual diagnostics and updating my BIOS firmware, I finally called HP, which told me that I cannot send my laptop in for service until I did a system recovery, which they also thought might solve the problem (I have doubts).
I both love and hate system recoveries. On the one hand, reloading all my software and getting my settings back the way I like them is a pain in the ass. On the other hand, it's a fresh, clean computer to start from scratch with. Being a transient problem, I won't know for a few days if this issue is resolved, but I decided in the meantime to experiment a little bit.
I went with the free trial of Office 2010, and so far, I have to say I'm impressed with the way Microsoft was able to fix most of their blunders from 2007.
But what I really wanted to say is that I gave up Firefox in favor of Google Chrome. This browser is effing excellent. Not surprisingly, it reminds me of using an Android phone.
Yeah...you know it's been a slow day when you're reporting your change in internet browsers.
