Things That Don't Suck

Kale chips.  Kale chips do not suck.  In fact, they are amazing.

So lately I've been getting myself down in the dumps by thinking about stuff that sucks.  I see my friends feeling a little blue lately too.  It's real easy to get bogged down by how you wish things were instead of enjoying some of the things that are.

So I thought I'd make myself a list of stuff in my life that does not suck and therefore kinda cheer myself up a bit.

Kale chips are on that list.  We take fresh kale, wash and rip it into pieces, season it, and roast it in the oven until it's crispy.  Then we all fight over them.

I finished my third BioChem exam.  Now all I have for the rest of the semester is studying for finals, and Thanksgiving Break is just around the corner.

Andy is going to take a break from the MWM program until January.  I'll write more about that in Transforming Man.  Today, he begins doing what I'm doing, MyFitnessPal.

Which I might add, has helped me lose 23 lbs.  I've been tracking for 87 days.  I'm getting pretty good at estimating calories.  I will probably keep tracking for at least a year after I finish my weight-loss journey because it's been so helpful and I don't want all this hardwork to just POOF go away.

Now I will start working out and see what that does for this process.  I'm stoked.  I haven't added aerobic activity into my plan yet, just walking around school.  I wanted to kinda save starting that for my first plateau, which I think I might be on right now.  That or my loss has finally reached it's actual rate.

Still awesome. Awesome that I've lost 23 lbs with hardly any exercise.  At all.

I'm wearing size 13 jeans.

Ray is walking.  It's been a week since her injury and she can stand and take a few steps.  Not perfectly, and she is still sleeping a lot (she was doing that before anyway), but her awareness is keen, her spirit unbreakable (that means she's stubborn), her functions functioning.  One week down, five more to go?  I will have to transfer her to a cage/crate/playpen as I'm certain she will attempt to jump off the bed soon.  I can't let her roam freely until she's healed completely.

Her appetite picked up yesterday and I'm also giving her vitamins for senior cats that I picked up at the pet supply.  The salmon oil just make her sick, as did corn syrup.  I guess short of a prescription laxative, the pumpkin mixed with wet catfood will have to do.  She loves the vitamins.  Please tell me why they are fish shaped if they are chicken flavored.

This weekend is gonna be stellar.  Dessert Reception for new members at church Friday night with wine and chocolate followed by Parent's Night Out on Saturday night and we're going to Aladdin's.  I like meeting people at my church.  They have a good sense of humor.  So Friday and Saturday morning I will be eating air with water to save my calories.  Muahahahaha.

I'm alive.  I have Andy.  I have Wonas.  These things are the most awesome on the list.

I'm going to take that list of stuff in my head that worries and depresses and frustrates me and I'm just going to mentally crumple it up and throw it away.

Along those same lines, Andy has this chart on his corkboard at work:

That's the basic idea.  I hope you're having as good of a Tuesday as I am.
