The ills of the world fall upon children

Taking a walk this morning (an ill-advised desire for coffee at the local cafe; it's raining cats, dogs and gerbils this morning), I saw two families out walking in the wet. Both had one in a stroller (suitably covered, of course), and my pre-coffee thought was a bit confused: where could they be going at 10am on such an uncomfortable day ( Read more... )

This is yet another reason why I homeschool. :) Though if you saw my family, I wonder what you would think about protection, as you would see the baby snuggled in a ring sling all secure with just her little face peeking out...

But honestly, I know my son spends more time out in the real world than the typical public-schooled kid, watching me do business with a variety of people and companies. May he learn from it like I learned it from my mother... But I was gratified when the doctor asked him his favorite school subject and he said all of them, then the doctor asked if there was a least favorite and he said no, he likes all of them!
