Crafting Feminism

Jul 19, 2012 02:17

Dearest Readers,

How many Feminist do I have reading this? Yeah I know my reading numbers are low... so like what 3? Okay who cares but really for those are femist out there... how many of you are craftiers? I am...

Heres the low down on it... I feel like i am a bad feminist for one because I am a crafter ... The image I have is I am defying feminism at its core of breaking away from the bonds of the June Cleaver image being the happy home maker... I should really stop crafting but hell I cant help but want to create

So the idea that I have is why dont we have a new movement of Crafting Feminism. We can be feminist and be craftiers. It doesnt make us June Cleaver it makes us well us.. Fuck the patriarchy Crafting is what we make it.... at least thats what I do. I love creating things that people like, that people can use, that mean something to some one that catches some ones eye and makes them happy. It doesnt mean i sit at home in a dress and think oh how I love to be raped by husband. FUCK NO! I am a lesbian people and no one is going control me. I dont have a dillusional idea that the ideals of June Cleaver being happy to use her new Jen Air Fridge and being druged up because I want more out of life than being a house wife because I craft.

I am happy making my craft a bussniess I like being a bizz woman. I have the confidence to be one and have faith in my art that people like it and want to own it to use it. It does not degrade me it makes me me just like being fat and gay makes me me. Its part of who I am and it doesnt mean I am less of Feminist if anything it makes me more of one. I define what makes me a craftier and what makes me a feminist, I still think that women deserve to be treated as humans and what ever their human form takes on they are that... and should never be subserviant to men or anyone else.

Feminism as a lesbian, fat, learning impared, poor, college educated, working class, civil servent crafter who values community makes me no less a feminist than that of Bell Hooks, or Bettie Fredan If any thing I work to join their ranks as women who contribuited to society. it takes different feminist to make things happen and this is me... so for those die hard people out there this is for you... I am a feminist crafter see me craft blah...

untill next time dearest readers
