Back in town
I got back from Seattle this afternoon. Details and pics to follow at a later time.
I'm really happy with my traveling rig for the bike. It's great for the short trip from my apartment to the train station, and from there to a hotel not far away. The center of mass is pretty high as opposed to what I might have with traditional, low-slung panniers, but it's quick, clean and flexible. And, most importantly, it worked. Very well and very reliably. And props to Amtrak for running a well-organized show. Anyone who thinks no one does train travel anymore hasn't been on a train recently.
I'm about to enjoy some slow-cooked ribs and broiled cheesy-spiced tomato halves. A great homemade welcome-back-to-Portland late supper.
