Poem: Here on Earth

Dec 06, 2006 09:42

I don't know what to say
that hasn't been said
how else do I say it
so it gets through your head?

I’m trying so hard
to make you understand
but I can't be patient forever
it's more than I can stand

maybe this time
you'll hear me out
and get the words
I want to shout

so I’ll try again,
just this one last try
but if you don't get it
we'll say goodbye

all you every say is lies
and I’ve heard it all before
hurtful words you scream at me
I don't want to hear anymore

making up what you want to be,
doesn't make it right
don't see what it does
that it starts a fight.

in your own little world
what you say maybe true
but come back down
and see a real life view

here on earth, is a different story
here on earth, you can't talk that way
bitterness you spill from your mouth
no one believes what you say

here on earth, we have respect
for those that we say we "love"
and every time we lie to them
it gives them a shove

black and blue
are the bruises in my heart
you're yelling in my head
and ripping me apart

I’m sorry things,
didn't work your way
but that doesn't mean
your behaviour's okay

mom moved on,
and you should too
instead of coming to me
and putting me through

the horrible times
you think you've had
when I was there too
and you made them bad

I woke in the morning
but stayed silent
because otherwise
you'd end up violent

little kids
should play with toys
instead of mouthing words
to not make noise

but we would wait
till you had your fix
a smoke and coffee
might calm conflicts

here on earth, you can't behave like that
here on earth, that's the way it's done
a bad mood doesn't just excuse
when you control everyone

here on earth, that not how you show love
here on earth, someone else doesn't take blame
when you’re the one at fault
and can't control your tempered flame

I don't know what to say
that hasn't been said
how else do I say it
so it gets through your head?

I’m trying so hard
to make you understand
but I can't be patient forever
it's more than I can stand

maybe this time
you'll hear me out
and get the words
I want to shout
