Something I miss...

Besides missing the internet at home for the past three weeks I really miss Martial Arts practice...

Since a co-worker of mine is taking up his masters degree in Chemistry, the Chemists left (a veteran at our laboratory and myself) need to have a larger range of responsibilities and work. Free time has become a scarcity and, because it IS rare to have a lot, I cherish what free time I have. If we're talking about the morning shift then that amounts to three hours at night and two hours in the morning. When I get home I usually go to sleep right away or if not, it's the laundry.

I haven't had time to practice these past few months and my body feels it. I feel heavier and I get tired more easily. I crave for the practice but I just can't find the time.

I felt this after watching Bamboo Blade (it's an anime about a Kendo club made mostly of girls- how each of them develops while they practice Kendo- both in skill and personality). I can still remember those days when I really felt tired after a good one and a half or more hours worth of practice. It was tiring but fun to learn something new and to re-learn some things that you thought you already knew. It made me really want to get into practice again. But it's not just practice but the social aspect of it, I believe.

Practicing alone can hone some skills but it's more of a review (unless your life depended on it perhaps- THEN it becomes the very fundamental of your training). At the beginner's level you need correction, affirmation and teaching. I guess that's how the social aspect changes training.

I really hope I get back and find a good schedule soon...
