Family History: Daughter of Stefan Medvedev and Hilary Medvedeva. One older brother, Alexei.

Life History: Growing up, Maria was a sickly child, prevented by her poor health from participating in most typical childhood activities. However, both her unfailing optimism and the support of her parents and older brother kept her going, and shortly following the family's decision to move to the United States, she began to make real steps toward convalescence. She began to practice martial arts and participate in track and field as a preteen, both of which contributed to her improving health, and her good cheer and almost unthinking kindness made her friends virtually everywhere she went. All in all, her childhood was unquestionably a happy one.

As a teenager, Maria became slightly more reserved and less overtly enthusiastic than she had been as a child, but she remained optimistic and kind, and her parents chalked up whatever small changes had taken place as merely part of the growing process. She was an average student but a clearly talented athlete, and as her senior year of high school drew closer, her parents had high hopes for her.

Their hopes were dashed, however, when Jin Hongjun, a close family friend whom Maria virtually regarded as a second older brother, was killed in a hit-and-run car accident in front of her eyes. She was severely traumatized by the incident, suffering panic attacks months after the incident. Her grades, which had been fairly average before, plummeted, and with the permission of her parents she pulled out of school. Despite her family's best efforts to find help, however, therapy and counseling sessions did little to alleviate her condition, and she became preoccupied, withdrawn, and virtually emotionless. She began to talk about finding the driver who had killed Jin and exacting her vengeance, much to the increasing worry of her parents.

It wasn't until a year after the accident that Maria's delusions fully manifested. She began to construct a disturbingly detailed life for herself out of snippets of her own, real life; she became convinced she was a genetically engineered fighter pilot; that Stefan was a war hero and Hilary was dead; that her older brother Alexei was of no importance whatsoever; and that she had had other brothers and sisters, all of them killed by the same driver. Her entire life began to revolve around finding that one man, whom she dubbed E-0057, and killing him to avenge the deaths of her loved ones.

It was only a matter of time after that that she started developing violent tendencies, and when she stole her father's car and totaled it in a bizarre accident, her parents reluctantly decided that the only remaining option left to them was to send her to Landel's Institute.

Medical History: Multiple early childhood illnesses starting from birth and continuing until age 10. Broken arm at age 14 as a result of an accident at judo practice. No further incidents until the patient was diagnosed at age 18 with psychological trauma following the death of Jin Hongjun, a close family friend. At age 19, received moderate lacerations and minor burns in a traffic accident. Was subsequently diagnosed with severe delusional disorder and recommended to Landel's Institute.

Current Status: Arrival was marked by a noticeable lack of improvement. The patient went so far as to believe that a fellow patient (Davids, Jude) was the hit-and-run driver who had killed her friend. A confrontation ensued in which both were mildly injured and Mr. Davids was sedated. Since then, has displayed less violent tendencies, though has shown no desire to improve and has displayed a consistently reticent and uncooperative attitude.
