last night i dreamt
i dreamt the devil tempted me
and i knew he was the devil
so i said no
then i realized id said no a thousand times before
he would always be there to tempt me
and i said yes
just tell me one thing
what was it like for you
and i knew then
the nature of god
god is a child standing in the place of his father
weilding a power he does not understand
incapable of comprehending the consequences
and then i had
sympathy for the devil
he did not do so our of hubris
avarice
or anything of the like
he did it out of love
love for life
and for the creation he saw and knew
and knew true appreciation
true love
meant renouncing the god
he knew was wrong.

forgive the cliche but sometime things make more sense
when the devil came
he was not red.
he was chrome and he said
come with me.
