Halloween: The Truth
“We don't have to talk about it.” Jess snuggles up to him on the sofa.
Sam could tell her about barfing on Andrea Howl in sixth grade, his usual 'why I hate Halloween' story. But maybe this time he can tell her something about who he really is, not a half-truth.
“My Mom died around this time of year. I was just a baby, but it was hard on my Dad and my brother. We never really talked about it.”
“I'm sorry, Sam.”
Sam kisses her on the forehead, keeping the rest to himself; after that, every day became Halloween.
A/N: I didn't know how much I needed a MOTW episode and I loved it; from the spot on brotherly banter, the ton of Easter eggs, Dean's delight and Sam's eye rolls, the nods to past seasons, and seeing Sam doing something to help cheer Dean up *happy sigh* For this drabble, I explored Sam's reasoning as to why he hated Halloween; purely because I thought it was always clear why he hated it, and selfishly, I liked that one better. As always I'd love to hear your thoughts too; on the episode, on the drabble, on everything (just no spoilers please). Take care :)
