It was so creepy!!! I don't do well with dolls anyway, but that combined with the baby cries and the zoom in on its horrible faces - yikes!!!

Dolls ro clowns and my Nana had a CLOWN DOLL when I was a kid. She had to turn it away from me when I was in the house ;)

Oh yes, I'm not a fan of clowns either, or moths *shivers* But a clown doll sounds petrifying!

Oh yes, I share that trepidation and fear too. It would be so harsh and cruel to bring her back and then kill her again in the same season though, right? If she has to go I hope we see her a bit more, let them all resolve some family issues, so that if she does go, they let her stay gone and it's still gut-wrenching, but maybe in a more positive way?! (Again, not spoiled just maybe wishful thinking!)

Before I talk about the drabble itself: HOLY SHIT YES. This episode started and I was just like, omg, this is creepy as hell, omg. I think it might be the creepiest I've ever found SPN, at that basic level of horror.

Anyway! I love how immediate Mary's relationship to this demon deal, and how it's shaped her family, feels here. I also understand completely Mary's trouble here--because not only is she back from the dead and living with her sons (now adult, now unknown), but she's also coming face to face, for the first time, how that one deal has played into all of this. And that's intense. This drabble captures that so well (and it's something I think a decent portion of fandom missed, in their critiques of Mary's actions!). <33

It really was creepy, right?! The baby cries coupled with that creepy doll. Freaky! (which is also kind of cool but I don't often feel like that with SPN!)

Exactly! The demon deal was huge, and it's had such major repercussions for her whole family, and that's a huge pill to have to swallow. I do hope that they touch a bit more on that, I know they're hinting at it, but I'd like a bit more detail and discussion. I can definitely understand her point of view, but yeah, I'm sure all of fandom does. Thank you for stopping by ♥

Love the opening line - Leaving might not be the right choice, but it's the hardest, - and how it turns that common maxim about the easy choice being the wrong one on its head.

I'm really happy you enjoyed that opening line - thank you! I think Show has done a wonderful job with Mary; she's a complex character and I love that. She's having to face her grown sons in a strange world, but also the reality of her deal and how that shaped the lives of the ones she loves so dramatically.

I can't help but wonder where they're taking her character and what future she has - will she hunt? Or will try to leave and set up a home away from hunting for the boys? Will she survive until the end of the season? I'm sure looking forward to finding out!

I think Show did a great job at this time fleshing Mary out in so few episodes, and trying to show all that she's trying to deal with and accept. While it was hard to watch, I understood why she felt she had to go.
