About Aradia!Canon Point: While she's waiting for her friends to arrive.
Setting:
There are two different universes in Homestuck's setting. The first universe we're introduced to in the comic is a lot like our own; it contains a planet Earth (the year there is 2009) and is home to the four kids. The second universe is that of the twelve trolls and it contains their home planet, Alternia. People in both of these universes are capable of using an inventory system known as a Sylladex to store and retrieve items. Both of these universes also have their own Incipispheres, but let's get back to those in a bit since none of that will make sense until I explain Sburb/Sgrub.
Sburb (also known as Sgrub in the trolls' universe; I'll just call it Sburb from here on out for simplicity's sake) is a sandbox-style game that, at first glance, looks a lot like The Sims. In order to play, one needs two game discs: a client copy and a server copy. Instead of interacting with a virtual environment like in the Sims games, the server player is actually interacting with the client player's environment in real time. If the client player has enough materials, the server player can build entirely new rooms, expand rooms, move things around, and deploy things that are needed to progress in the game. The server player can only mess with things within a certain area of the client player, though. Meanwhile, the client player can wander around as they please. In order for a group of people to play the game together, they have to form a daisy chain of client-server connections; if they don't, they'll just end up in a session of the game by themselves.
A countdown starts when the client player opens the Cruxtruder, which releases a ball of light called a Kernelsprite; this item is also used for making Cruxite Dowels. The countdown shows how long the player has before a meteor reaches their location. So begins the mad rush to make and break a Cruxite Item. If a player manages to do that, they and their home are transported into a place called The Medium, which makes up most of the Incipisphere. The Incipisphere consists of the players' Lands/Planets, Skaia, Prospit, Derse, and the Veil. There's also the Furthest Ring, which is located outside the Incipisphere.
Each player of Sburb has their own planet, and these planets orbit Skaia. The planets all have their own unique consorts, creatures which live there. Every consort we've seen so far has been either a reptile or an amphibian. Each planet also has its own specific lore, as well as a personal quest for the player to fulfill and a Denizen for the player to defeat. There are a series of seven gates located between The Medium and Skaia; players reach Skaia by building upwards and going through each gate.
Skaia is at the center of the Incipisphere. Early on, it's called a "source of unlimited creative potential". Players need to reach it to win the game. As the players do their first prototypings of their Kernelsprites, the chessboard-like Battlefield grows more and more huge and complex; before the players' prototypings, the battle going on there is locked in an eternal stalemate. The prototypings that are done before entry into The Medium also have an effect on the enemies the players face. In order for it to be possible to create a universe, which is the ultimate goal of Sburb, Skaia must be complete; that is, every player must have prototyped their Kernelsprite at least once before entering The Medium.
Within the Incipisphere, there are two kingdoms locked in a battle for Skaia. Their names are Prospit and Derse. Prospit is the kingdom of light that orbits close to Skaia and is inhabited by white-carapaced citizens, It's ruled by the White Queen. Derse is the kingdom of darkness, which orbits Skaia from far away and inhabited by black-carapaced citizens. It's ruled by the Black Queen.
Prospit and Derse are also home to the players' "dream selves", which serve as "extra lives" if the player's real self dies. In order to awaken a player's dream self in this case, the player has to be kissed by a prince or princess of Derse of Prospit- in other words, any other player. If a player dies on or in his or her Quest Bed, which is a stone platform for the kids and a cocoon-like object for the trolls, they will ascend to the God Tiers, becoming much more powerful, as well as nearly immortal. All but one Quest Bed so far has been located on the player's planet in The Medium; the exception is Aradia, whose Quest Bed was at the core of Derse. Her awakening was also different in that it involved the death of her dream self rather than her real self, as her real self was already dead at the time.
The kingdoms' respective kings lead their armies in battle. The Prospitians want to protect Skaia, while the Dersites want to destroy it. Without the players, Prospit is always destined to lose, so it's the players' job to defeat the Black King.
If the Dersites win, the Black King takes the White King's scepter and uses it to start something known as "The Reckoning". This sends all the meteors from the Veil hurling towards Skaia. Skaia opens up a bunch of portals to send the meteors toward the host planet (Earth in the case of Sburb, Alternia in the case of Sgrub), essentially sacrificing the planet to try and save itself. This is what makes the players enter the game to begin with. Skaia's defenses can only hold out for so long, though; it can't deflect the biggest of the meteors. So the players have the stop The Reckoning before Skaia can be destroyed. If they do that, they win!
The reward for winning Sburb is a shiny new universe. The trolls actually did manage to create a universe (specifically, the kids' universe), but before they could claim it, a "demon" (actually a Dersite archagent) known as Jack Noir appeared before them from a rift in space. The trolls fled to the Veil, a ring of meteors on the edge of The Medium, before Noir could kill them all, and that's where they've been since.
Before the game, Aradia and the other trolls lived on a planet called Alternia. Alternia was not a very nice place to be! During the night, hoofbeasts (which are similar to horses, if the terrestrial variety are anything like the aquatic variety) and incredibly powerful creatures called musclebeasts roamed the land and during the day, undead rose and searched for trolls to prey upon. In addition to the dangerous fauna, the light of the Alternian sun was also incredibly intense; very few trolls were able to withstand its rays, so they adopted a largely nocturnal lifestyle. Gazing into the sun for even a moment would blind a troll immediately. Trolls also need to sleep in a substance called "sopor slime" so they don't have horrible nightmares.
Romance is an important part of troll society, and their system of romance is more complicated than that of humans. To keep things (relatively) short, there are four types of troll romance. They are divided into two major types, red and black, which are further split into two subtypes each, concupiscent and conciliatory. Red romance is based on pity while black romance is based on hate, and the concupiscent quadrants are related to reproduction, while the conciliatory ones are more platonic.
The two types of red romance are matespritship and moirallegiance. The concupiscent red quadrant is matespritship, also referred to as the "flushed quadrant"; it's represented by a red heart. This is the closest thing trolls have to human romance, though it's based on intense pity rather than love. A troll who is in a matespritship may be referred to as being "flushed" or "scarlet" for the other party. Moirallegiance is the conciliatory red quadrant; it's represented by a pink diamond. It could best be described as one troll serving as a guardian to another. Basically, he or she feels destined to watch over the other party and keep him or her out of trouble. Being moirails is sometimes referred to as being "pale".
The two types of black romance are kismesissitude and auspitice. Kismessisitude is represented by a black spade. This is the concupiscent black quadrant, also referred to as the caliginous quadrant. It's based on intense mutual hatred, and it can sort of be described as a really intense, violent rivalry. The conciliatory black quadrant is the auspitice, also referred to as the ashen quadrant. This quadrant is represented by a grey club. Since trolls are such a hateful and violent species, it's necessary to have mediators to keep black infidelity from happening. An auspitice fills that role.
Troll reproduction, as mentioned above, involves both matesprits and kismesises. Basically, adult trolls If they can't provide the genetic material when the Imperial Drone comes knocking, they'll be killed. The Mother Grub, a huge creature that lives far underground in those brooding caverns mentioned earlier, puts all the collected material together. She then lays a whole bunch of eggs at once, which hatch into young "wigglers". The wigglers find a good place, then spin a cocoon. After they emerge from the cocoon with their newfound legs, they go through a bunch of life-threatening trials. There are a wide variety of creatures in the brooding caverns, and the young trolls that survive get one as a sort of guardian. These guardians are called lusii. A troll's lusus protects him or her, and in turn, the troll takes care of his or her lusus. After a lusus chooses its young charge, the two make their journey to the surface, where they find a place and build a home (referred to as a "hive") with the help of robots.
Troll society is organized in a caste system based on blood, referred to as the hemospectrum. The lowest color on the hemospectrum is a dark red (which is, incidentally, Aradia's blood color), while the highest is Tyrian purple. Blue blood and higher are considered "high" castes, and their homes (referred to as "hives") are more lavish than those of the lower-blooded trolls.
Personality:
From what we see of her before her death in Hivebent, Aradia was a cheerful girl with a lot of interests, including live-action roleplaying (referred to as FLARP) and archaeology. She got along well with most of her fellow trolls, most notably Tavros and Terezi, her fellow Team Charge members, and Sollux, who she was apparently very close to, though the exact nature of their relationship was never really made clear. Her anger towards Vriska for what she did to Tavros, as well as her guilt at indirectly letting him get injured in the first place, led to her death when she decided to get revenge. Her personality changed drastically when she died. She forgot how to feel and stopped caring about all the things she used to love. The only thing that brought her anything resembling happiness was destroying things. She also stopped staying in contact with most of the other trolls, most of which were creeped out by her new personality. Another change in her personality post-death was her newfound obsession with predestination; she did things simply because she knew they had to happen. As the Maid of Time, she knew everything was predetermined and had to go a certain way, and if it didn't, it would lead to a doomed timeline (basically, BAD END). It could be said that she had a very fatalistic outlook. This led the other trolls to find her as more than a bit of a downer, though bringing others down really wasn't her intention; in her mind, she was just being realistic.
After Equius made a robot for her to possess, Aradia apparently regained her capacity to feel... sort of. Her first displays of emotion were extreme, though not without reason. When she discovered Equius programmed the robot to fall in love with him, she went berserk, ripped out her own heart, slapped Equius, and then... kissed him? Wait, what? (It's important to note that this means there were probably some feelings there anyway since the chip was installed in the heart she ripped out. Of course, the kiss also could have been a "heat of the moment" type of thing.) Then, though she'd once told Vriska she was all right with being dead, she tracked the girl down and beat her to near-death in the Flash update "Aradia: Make her pay". Other than these two incidents, she was about the same as she was when she was dead, though she was noticeably more irritable; it would be reasonable to say she'd become frustrated with the fact she couldn't really do anything to change things.
After her ascension to the God Tiers, Aradia's disposition is noticeably sunnier; there's been a smile on her face almost constantly since her resurrection. For the first time in her life, she feels truly alive, which is reflected in the new way she types- no more zeroes! She also has a sense of humor; in the first conversation we see with her, she actually makes a time pun, and later on in the same conversation, she jokes about joining Tavros in a round of slam poetry! She's clearly enjoying her new lease on life, taking joy in pretty much everything.
Although she's gained a lot of power and knowledge as a result of her ascension, Aradia isn't lording any of it over anyone, instead using it to help the others in any way she can. That doesn't mean she's going to charge into situations recklessly, though. She's quite determined not to die again; she doesn't intend to waste this new life she's been given. So she hangs back, watches, and waits for the best time to act. If she doesn't have the opportunity to sit back and wait, she meets whatever challenge she's faced with with fearlessness and enthusiasm; she knows what to do and she will do it.
Abilities, Weaknesses, and Power Limitation Suggestions:
Abilities:
♈ Like most of the characters in Homestuck, Aradia has a Sylladex, which is the inventory system that the characters use to store and retrieve stuff. Of course, she's not limited to her Sylladex; she can still pick things up and put them down like a normal person. Before her death, she had her Strife Specibus set to Whipkind; basically, this means she was proficient with using whips in combat. She got rid of it after she died since, well. She couldn't really hold a whip anymore, could she?
♈ From what we've seen in the comic, it's obvious that trolls are made of a lot tougher stuff than humans, so Aradia can take quite the beating in a fight if it comes to that.
♈ She is very strong-willed; this is why Vriska was unable to control her mind when she tried to.
♈ As the Maid of Time, Aradia has the ability to manipulate the flow of time. We've seen these powers in action when she temporarily stopped Jack Noir in his tracks. She also has the ability to travel through time. Since abusing this power could prove to be dangerous, though, she is very careful when she uses it. (Prior to her ascension, she had to use a pair of music boxes to travel through time, but she apparently no longer needs these.)
♈ Aradia also has the ability to fly using her newfound wings! Before her ascension, she was able to levitate, though, and there's really no reason to assume she can't still do that.
♈ Since she has ascended to the God Tiers, Aradia is almost immortal. She could still be killed through either a "just" or a "heroic" death. If she were to become corrupt, then a hero could kill her in battle; that would be classified as a just death. If she were to sacrifice herself to save the lives of her friends, that would be a heroic death.
♈ Ever since she was young, Aradia's been able to hear the voices of the dead. Now that she's God Tier, she can also meet and interact with dead (as well as dreaming) players face-to-face in the dream bubbles while she's awake.
Weaknesses:
♈ Depending on exactly what she's doing with them, Aradia's time powers can take a great amount of concentration to use. While she was using them to stop Jack, they required her full attention, and she wasn't able to keep him in place for very long. She also can't freeze someone in time and then fly off; she has to stay there with them.
♈ Due to her low spot on the hemospectrum (she is basically the lowest of the lowbloods), she is highly susceptible to psychic attacks. Vriska's mind control powers are an exception, as noted above.
♈ She's cheerful when talking about pretty much everything, including death, which some might find disconcerting.
♈ She can't really withstand sunlight, so she won't be able to go out during the day without protection.
♈ When she gets angry, Aradia has been shown to not really think things through. For example, when she decided to take her revenge on Vriska, she apparently didn't stop to think that even though Vriska couldn't control her, the troll could control others... so her actions could come back to bite her in the ass.
Inventory: Nothing.
Appearance:
Like the rest of the trolls, Aradia has a humanoid appearance, with the distinctive grey skin, yellow eyes, and orange horns. Her horns are shaped like ram's horns, in keeping with her Aries theme. Her hair is long, black, and rather messy! While we've never seen them in canon, I'm gonna say her ears are pointy since Hussie's drawn at least one other troll with pointy ears before.
As for what she wears... Most of the time she's gonna wear really simple stuff. T-shirts, long skirts, and sneakers. Because fashion is stupid. However, she also has
this spiffy little number right here! That's her God Tier outfit, which she probably won't wear much because... dem wings, man.
Age: Six solar sweeps (equivalent to thirteen years old).

One moment, Aradia had been waiting for friends to arrive. Two of the humans and the rest of the trolls... at least, the ones who were still alive.
The next thing she knew, she was... shifting. It was the same feeling she experienced when she used the transportalizers around the lab. This familiar sensation was quickly replaced by a new one: She was falling.
It didn't take long for her to land, and when she did, it was with an unceremonious thud. Metal was sticking into her in some very uncomfortable places... but she was still in one piece, thankfully. She got up slowly and carefully. Before she got to start surveying her surroundings, though, she heard a voice ring out from above.
“Welcome to Sacrosanct. Please watch your step.”
Okay, that answered one question, but it also raised a whole bunch of new ones. Just where was she? “Sacrosanct” didn't sound familiar to her at all, so she probably wasn't in her universe anymore... which raised the questions of just how she'd gotten here and whether or not it was possible to get back home. Somehow, she had the feeling it wasn't.
With a lack of any other real options, she took to the air, wincing a bit, and began to explore.
