This is a meme pretty much everyone else was doing and I thought it would be a good way to track the books I read through the course of a year ( Read more... )

Ooh, some interesting books in there. The only one on that list I have read though is Dead And Gone.

Seriously, i have read some of the best books this year. I can't rate Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road' highly enough nor 'The Year of Wonders' by Geraldine Brooks.

What were your thoughs on 'Dead and Gone'? I'm a bit mixed with it...I don't think it was the best of the series....

Definitely not the best one - it seems to be more of a bridge book than anything. Tying up some loose ends as she removes some plotlines (I'm all for more coherency by minimizing plotlines, although I will miss the fae characters she took out), amping up some other stakes... definitely seems more like a build-up novel than a climax one. It seems to serve the grand scheme of things more than others.

I agree it seemed like a bit of a clear out book. The cast, i guess, was starting to get a bit large and ungainly similar to the cast in Anita Blake and major props to Harris for not shying away from killing them off. It was a shame to lose the fae characters but I'm glad Bill has become a player again cause while I prefer Eric we need a bit of a romantic struggle going down. The whole Quinn thing didn't really sit well or have much importance to the plot and i wondered why he was included at all, I'm hoping this is setting something up for the next book but i get the feeling it was more closing a door i already thought shut...

Which Vamp do you think Niall was referring to when he said 'He really loves you'; while i want it to be Eric i have a suspicious it may have been Bill...

With regards to Quinn, I always saw him as "a mistake Sookie had to make". She had to experience a more human relationship, or at least what some factors to human relationships that she couldn't get if she chose a vampire. So I guess he was just a reminder of what had to be discarded.

I thought it was Eric. Has Niall had much contact with Bill? I know he's had contact with Eric, so he'd probably have been able to see it better if it was Eric.
