Apocalypses New Horseman Death & Other stuff

Went to the comic shop yesterday and was quite pleased with the fact i managed to get hold of Excalibur #3 in which Pete Wisdom calls Captain Britain a tosser. Other than this pearl of Wisdom (i crack me up...not) i found the issue a little on the bland side. However, once Ed Brubaker (of X-men: Deadly Genesis fame) starts to write Uncanny i hope ( Read more... )

Heya *waves back* Course i don't mind you friending me. I will friend you back poste haste.

I have to admit that the first arc of Astonishing blew me away but the following one was decidedly 'meh' until the end. I am very excited by the upcoming arcs though particularly #14.

I'm glad people agree with me on the whole Gambit as death thing. His dark side has already been explored move over and let someone else become brooding why dontchya? :P

I have to agree though that something just HAS to be done about Gambit. He has turned into abit of an annoyance if i'm completely honest. I'm not totally convinced by any of Milligans characterisation concerning the title if i am completely honest. Maybe thats why he brought Doop in, saw it as a character he couldn't screw up as he has beloved Bobby (although to be fair he is just continuing what Austen started, so he may improve him again at some point).

I have to admit alot of the 'A-list' characters are getting on my nerves at the moment due to poor characterisation and boring plots. I would really like some 'B or C listers' come into the fray abit--like we are seeing in Excalibur. I would really like to see whats happening with Skids seeing as she is still powered (loved her in the original run of X-factor) or someother forgotten but fabulous character. I'm so glad we are starting to see a little more of the less well known characters over the last few months what with 'NextWave' and '198'.

Astonishing is a title I just love - and I did enjoy the second arc, but my god, Astonishing 12 just hits so hard in terms of impact. (My heart breaks for Hank, among other things.)

I'm definitely with you on Gambit - I don't read Unprefixed currently (aforementioned flatmate and I follow most X-titles, that one's hers) but from what I've seen and read, he really does seem to sort of be going nowhere - and I think you're right about Bobby (but here I have to admit that I don't mind Austen's run *g*) but I have more of a problem with Alex, I think - he's being such a jerk lately - which I know he can be, but still.

I've never really been one for many of the A-list characters (my list of favourites here), so I'm definitely with you on seeing older, more random characters pop back up: it's a reason I'm enjoying the new X-Factor right now (M and Siryn and Rictor and Jamie Madrox? Yes please!) and something I'm hoping we'll see more of now we don't have all that many mutants left. Skids! She'd be awesome to see around again - and definitely with you on having Tabby back around in NextWave.

As for Excalibur - I'm so thrilled Pete Wisdom is around again, but oh, my brain, Claremont tortures it so. I'm still following the title (mostly because I follow all incarnations of Excalibur) and I'm hoping it settles into it's own rhythm and pace.
