OOC: This scene happened a few weeks ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She knew he was coming before she heard the knock on the door, before she heard the motorcycle pull up in front of her home. She wished he wouldn’t do that, she was cautious and kept her place hidden. Outsiders to her home never fully understood that.

She stood up. She felt his anger and confusion. She had hurt him in ways she could not fathom. Her veins filled with shame. She was fully spent, down to her spirit. She was exhausted in every possible way and knew this encounter would not go well for her. She didn’t have the energy to contain her emotions.

His knock was loud and echoed through her sparse house. She cringed slightly as she made her way to the door and opened it a crack to peek out at him.

“Hey,” he said, uncharacteristically quiet. He held a rather meager looking bouquet of tulips.

She frowned. Tulips were her favorite… did he know that or was it just a coincidence?

My dear, if we're going to work together, you need to stop seeing coincidence. It doesn't exist.

She blinked and stared at him once more, “Hey,” she looked at the tulips, even her favorite color and said awkwardly, “Uh… did you want to come in?”

He looked as if he was going to say something but pushed the tulips towards her instead, he turned to leave her and replied angrily, “Forget it, you wouldn’t understand… not anymore.”

She took the flowers and stared at them then muttered, “I guess not…”

She paused for a moment, placing the flowers on her steps and followed after him, “Ac…. ((OOC: Name Omitted just incase player wants it a secret)) wait. I’m really sorry. I lost control of myself and… your bike happened to be right there. I know it’s not much but I’d actually like to pay to fix it.”

She rushed on, realizing she hadn’t said enough, “Really… I can’t explain it… it just happened,” she looked down at her feet for a moment and then continued, “I honestly think I may be going insane… I lost my Sire, Carissa was a good friend, and before all of that…” she stopped, catching herself, “It’s just too much. It’s not an excuse; really, it’s just my mind state… I feel,” she paused, trying to judge what she actually felt and finally concluded, “lost.”

She felt his anger rise again, his back tensing in response to her words. He muttered, inaudible to most ears but hers were keen as always, “At least you have something to lose.”

He continued, changing the subject, “Jane, how did we come to this? I mean, what are we to be the pillars of social decorum? You.. leading the family and being, “ he let out a slight laugh, “the law. Me, helping to bring the crooks and chastising people for being rude. Has a few words from the preachers really had that much affect? Do the elders really sway us that much, or is it just one more damnable aspect of this curse?” She frowned, curse… an Ordo concept. She didn’t care for the words of elders and preachers unless they were wise ones. But he distracted her response with another questions as he finally turned around to face her, “Do you remember anything at all? Do you remember why that bike meant so much?”

The confusion filled her to the brim as she looked up at him and shook her head, “No, I don’t. And that… that’s the only reason I’m still awake right now. I don’t want to forget again.”

He moved closer and grabbed her hands. She looked at him, confused as she saw his eyes brimming with blood, “Shit Jane, I didn’t know. I thought you were… you know, being your closed up self. ‘Sides, it’s pretty clear you’re broken up over some dude… just figured it was us. I’m an ass.”

She looked down at the hands holding hers, the confusing growing, “Us? We were an us?”

She didn’t know if she wanted the answer to that question so she continued, “But.. no.. it’s not you,” she hesitated for a moment then asked, “Did I ever tell you about… Kyle?”

“Er… Kyle? The fellow street urchin from when you were a kid? A bit, not much, you didn’t talk too much about before. I mean, I knew you were different. But heck, you didn’t mind that I was a little off the wall.  Geezus, why does my head have to be Swiss cheese all the time?”

She smiled. Fellow street urchin, yes, but so much more, “Yes, that Kyle. We knew each other forever. I loved him. He asked me to marry him then disappeared during a job. A dangerous one at that. I thought he died but I was taken by Donovan’s family shortly after he disappeared and was never able to really figure out what happened since I was locked in Donovan’s house for far too long,” she looked away from him at that moment, staring into the darkness of the night that surrounded them, “I found out almost a year ago now that I was only half right about him dying.”

She felt him well up with confusion and jealousy as he rubbed a faint scar on his hair line, “Ah, so I take it Kyle has been back…”

She nodded, not intending to tell him everything but enough so he’d understand, “But, he wasn’t the same… not at all. His beast consumed him, yet I still loved him… I hated myself for it but I couldn’t help it,” she frowned, trying to explain, “As much as the Ordo say we can change, we can’t… not really,” a small bloody tear ran down her cheek as she continued, “He… was a Raza. I don’t want to go into the details,” you’d probably kill me if I did, “but, he’s…” torpored in my basement? Sleeping for the next 100 years?, “gone now.”

“I, er… I am…” for once, he was lost for words and just opened up his arms, offering her a hug, "I am sorry.”

She accepted the hug. It felt odd, yet somehow familiar. She whispered, “I’m sorry.. I don’t know why I’m telling you all of this, but I lost him literally a couple weeks before Donovan… and it’s been a very long year. I guess I just want you to understand why I’m so,” insane?, “erratic.”

He held her for a long time, not speaking until she broke the hug and stepped away from him, feeling awkward and slightly uncomfortable. Why did I tell him? “Thank you… for listening and please don’t mention this to anyone. Only Gustav knows and that’s because he decided to stalk me one night,” she attempted to smile, though she knew he’d see through it, “and let me pay for your bike, it’s the least I can do.”

“It’s alright, you know..” he seemed to be struggling for the right words, “you know, you got me that bike. So, I guess it’s well, you know, don’t sweat it. It’s just the last thing I had from before… I was being childish, you know,” She understood that. She had her old Harley back and she knew nothing could really replace it.

He wandered over to his borrowed bike and looked back at her as she retreated to her front steps, “You going to be okay?”

She simply nodded, “Eventually, I’m a survivor, after all. You don’t need to worry about me.”

He left shortly after and she retired for the day. She wanted desperately to give into eclipse. Forgetting wasn’t so bad, was it?
