Something tells me that DG was making a bigger mistake than she knows with the whole Umbrey thing. From an emotional standpoint, how real can her emotions be if she was lining up a replacement before the memorial? That might be a big problem in the near future.

Then there's the fact that the man will probably hit Cain's fist with his face. ::smirk::

Riding in on a white horse again. Just think of the story they'll have for the grandkids.

24 hours. I can make it another twenty four hours. I hope.

I left a comment above about the Umbrey thing. What I hoped would come through about that scene is that while DG thinks she's helping herself be practical about her job by making this arrangement with Umbrey, what she's really doing is making sure that she can't heal, or move on. Cain's death has broken her in a way she isn't even quite getting herself. No other consort can have a shot as long as she's defining him as "not Cain," and her own healing can't proceed as long as she's defining her own life as "life without Cain."

Of course, we know that she won't have to heal, but she doesn't. Yet.

See my comment on above comment. No need to comment on the comment as I'm commenting.

It's not DG's mental state or emotions I was thinking about, but CAIN's when he finds out.

Do you think Cain having been in the suit for 8 years would make him more or less understanding when he finds out? Do you think he could understand the shock that DG felt @ his death? He's also hiding info about this Order from her, so he thinks he understands having to do things he doesn't necessarily want to do for the greater good. It would be interesting to see him react in different ways.

More or less understanding? I don't think having been in the suit would change the strike to the male ego that the woman he loves was making plans for a second husband before the first was 'buried'. Rational or not, logical or not. Feelings aren't always either.

Oh, I still have Cain's little secret in my mind. Further emotional complications to make everything more interesting and complex.
