About three years ago, 5 (really high) developers were let go from the company for have porn on their hard drives.

They were warned 3 times before they were let go. Three times, do you honestly need to be warned three times that having porn on you work pc is just wrong?

I would think that after being caught the first time, you would make arrangements to look at your porn in a nice safe quiet place... the second time should have sent a shiver down your spine and forced you to seek help from a professional, the third time is just a joke. By that time you are basically daring the company to let you go.

Can you imagine if the truth ever leaked back to your family, that you let go for having porn on your computer? How would face your wife and kids (and every single on of them was married)?

What if your future employer found out the real reason why you got fired from your previous place of employment?

What if it wasn't just normal porn, but some really weird fetish type of porn? After being caught the first time, how do you look your system adminstrator in the eye or even your manager?

Oh, as for the resigning and not being fired thing is for unemployment. I forget how it works, but if you resign... you don't qualify for unemployment or something like that.

Figures ...

Yeah, I always joke with my husband that if he came home and told me he got fired because of porn, I'd be kicking his ass up one side and down the other. I can't even image how mad I'd be.

My husband's company doesn't play the warning game. If you are caught, you are gone! They run occasional reports on all the computers to check for this stuff. Last year there was a guy who got busted because he left a cd in his work pc overnight. A report happened to be run the next morning, we're talking wee hours, and it found all these images on that drive. Turned out to be shots of the guy in sexual situations with his fiancé's sister ... who happened to be 12. The company notfied the FBI asap. He was arrested at his home, which he shared with his fiancé, and the FBI came in and bagged the guy's work pc and hauled it off.
