Madison's Summer Visit.....

Jul 13, 2004 14:31

Well..... It's coming to a close of Madison's Summer Vacation here with me, and I feel like I haven't seen her at all! She is getting so tall and is looking just like her mother, although Madison is a very pretty girl! Heh..heh.. She flew in on June 14th and has been going non-stop since she's been here. The first two weeks I didn't get to see her too much since I was working.... It was like.. get up and get ready for work, kiss her on the forehead before I leave for work, work all day, then get to eat dinner with her before being a parent and getting her in the bath and ready for bed. At least she's had time to bond with Stefanie. Being a parent is tiring... especially when you have two... one being a girl and the other being a boy. I thought raising Ethan was rough, but when you have both of them.... wow!

We took a family vacation to South Padre the third week she was here... what a blast. I had so much fun with Stefanie, Ethan and Madison.... actually taking a vacation together. We began the ten hour drive, starting out Saturday afternoon and ended up crashing at a hotel right outside of Corpus Christi about midnight or 1:00 AM. We woke up the next morning about 8:00AM, ate breakfast, and finished out the trip getting to S. Padre about 11:00AM. We couldn't check into the hotel until 1:00PM so we went and got Whataburger then went to a public beach that was almost empty... it was paradise! Very nice and clean beaches... beautiful water... relaxing! Ethan and I fed the seagulls our left over fries from our hands, then even got brave and fed them by sticking fries in our mouths. Sounds freaky... but was fun. Once we checked in we spent the rest of the day (Sunday) on the beach and boogie boarding on the waves.

Monday we spent most of the day at Schlitterban South Padre, a water park that has a huge lazy river that goes throughout the park that you float on innertubes on. It even has rollercoaster type rides that you ride on the innertubes as well. Madison and Ethan had a blast. Ethan and I even tried the surfing thing that they have... a lot of fun!! Finished this day out by once again going to the beach.

Tuesday was spent mostly at the beach, building sandcastles, burying Ethan in the sand and trying to teach Madison how to boogie board. Then we went back over the bridge to the main land for lunch at some Pirate place, and then went back over to the island for some evening Bay Fishing. They made it sound as if we were going to catch a boat-load of fish as well as some huge fish... but we didn't. Madison caught the first fish on the boat.... although it wasn't a fish... it was an eel. She then caught a fish after a while, as did Ethan, Stefanie and myself. No big fish... but was fun.

Wednesday we were going to go to Mexico for some shopping but decided against it since some told us you had to have a birth certificate for the kids and some said you didn't. I didn't want to risk it with Madison.... could only imagine getting over there and not being able to come back with her. So we checked out of the hotel and started back for Keller. We stopped at the Natural Bridge Caverns for the kids, since Madison had never been. But if you live in Texas... you have to go at least once. Nothing like Carlsbad Caverns... but what the heck!

Thursday and Friday we just chilled out around the house... we were exhausted. The fourth of July weekend Madison ended up going to spend the night with my mom. Then she spent the night with my sister on Monday, and then she and Ethan went to San Antonio for the next week with my dad and stepmom. They got to go to SeaWorld and swim with the whales. Man o man... my dad never did anything like that for me when I was growing up. Damnit! Oh well!

That's all for now.... She leaves this next weekend and I know it's just going to suck for me! I will miss her so much after spending so much time with her. Fill you in on more later....
