Oh GuildWars Factions, how pretty art thou~?
I say very~
Typically.
I went and del'd my other characters, just to make faction versions. ^^;
And then got very very very very caught up in their naming process~
As shown below the LJ cut.
Why behind an LJ cut?
'Cause I put their pictures in with it~
Though, Desdemona I can't decide whether she's gonna stick with blue, become grey, or aim for silver. >_>;
[You'll know who I mean when you see her.]
But no, I love my girls and their names~
8'3
-Shows off her girls below.-
Shinobu Yasu Ren The Factions Assassin.
[With the characters; 忍 & 康 & 恋.]
- Shinobu
Means 忍 "endurance" in Japanese.
- Yasu
From Japanese 安 "peaceful", 康 "peace" or 坦 "level".
- Ren
From Japanese 蓮 "lotus" or 恋 "romance, love".
Skadi Gudrun The Factions Ritualist.
- Skadi
Possibly means "damage" in Old Norse. In Norse mythology she was a mountain giantess, the wife of Njord and later Odin.
- Gudrun
From the Old Norse name Guðrún meaning "god's secret lore", derived from the elements guð "god" and rún "secret lore". In Norse legend Gudrun was the wife of Sigurd. After his death she married Atli, but when he murdered her brothers, she killed her sons by him, fed him their hearts, and then slew him.
Andraste Isolde The Factions Ranger.
- Andraste
Possibly means "invincible" in Celtic. This was the name of a Briton goddess of victory who was invoked by Boudicca before her revolt.
- Isolde
Possibly derived from a Welsh root meaning "beautiful". In Celtic legend she was an Irish princess betrothed to King Mark of Cornwall. She became the lover of his knight Tristan, which led to their tragic deaths. The story was popular during the Middle Ages and the name became relatively common in England then. It was rare by the 19th century, though some interest was generated by Richard Wagner's opera 'Tristan und Isolde' (1865).
Alexis Florence The Factions Necromancer.
- Alexis
From the Greek name Αλεξις (Alexis), which meant "helper" or "defender", derived from Greek αλεξω (alexo) "to defend, to help". This was the name of a 3rd-century BC Greek comic poet, and also of several saints. It is used somewhat interchangably with the related name Αλεξιος or Alexius, borne by five Byzantine emperors. In the English-speaking world it is more commonly used as a feminine name.
- Florence
From the masculine Roman name Florentius or the feminine form Florentia, which were derived from Latin florens "prosperous, flourishing". Florentius was borne by many early Christian saints, and it was occasionally used in their honour through the Middle Ages. In modern times it is mostly feminine.
The name can also be given in reference to the city in Italy, as in the case of Florence Nightingale (1820-1910). She was a nurse in British hospitals during the Crimean War and is usually considered the founder of modern nursing.
Desdemona Orinthia The Factions Mesmer.
- Desdemona
Derived from Greek δυσδαιμων (dysdaimon) meaning "ill-fated". This was the name of the murdered wife of Othello in Shakespeare's play 'Othello' (1603).
- Orinthia
Possibly related to Greek ορινω (orino) meaning "to excite, to agitate". This name was used by George Bernard Shaw in his play 'The Apple Cart' (1929).
Side Note;
Fiar Fox The Factions Elementalist.
Her name was something I made up, hence why she has no reasons behind her naming.
It's a name I made once, and shall forever stick.
My naming referance for all these can be found at;
Behind The Name Dot Com~
I tried to keep them all the same, but there's one with a mix in there I believe~
