Especially American General! Remember how we've been trying for a month to pay these fuckers so J's life insurance policy won't lapse tomorrow? Yeah, well.
First call to customer service, they gave us the number for the Cordele office, but they said we would have to deal with their local agent, in McRae. He would call us. He did not.
Called back to Cordele - - the person who has any knowledge was out that day. We did find out the local agent's name, but no phone number. Checked the phone book - - no number. An insurance agent with an unlisted number?
J called customer service again. They gave him the number to our "local" office. A guy in Kentucky. He will call the main office and they will call us. They did not.
Today, I called customer service again. There is nothing they can do. "I can't take your payment because I don't know how much it is". It's supposed to be $25, bitch.
I have by this time started recording all the calls. I called back to Cordele. Robin, who was very nice, said she would find out what was going on and try and stop it from lapsing and call back, and is(don't let me down, Robin) sending us forms to do a bank draft for the premiums. If J doesn't say fuck it. Also, she even told me customer service is useless. The reps are in the Philippines.
Robin called back and told me they can't stop it from lapsing, they'll reinstate it on Tuesday, but we'll have to pay like $100. WTF?
J came home right after I got off the phone, and he's had a bad week and did not take this well. He called back to Cordele and demanded to speak to the manager. We're waiting for the call back.
The reason I called is because J wasn't being forceful enough. It takes a long time to make him mad, but they finally did.
ETA: J talked to Regina in Tennessee and she actually helped us. While J was on one phone, I called the customer service number and made a payment. Regina told J if the rep gave us grief(and she did) to just tell her J was on the phone with and she said to take a $25 payment. So we'll see how it turns out. Regina says she will monitor our account and make sure the payment goes through and everything's all right.
