Last week I went to look at a Volkswagen Rabbit Diesel because my friends and family would all benefit from having another car that actually runs and is driveable in our mix of cars. The rabbit was anything but driveable. The body had rust and the headliner was falling apart but I thought I might as well give the poor thing a shot.
I went to work and got a part the the car allegedly needed and came back on monday to install it. After installing the part it didn't start... Big surprise. I also took note that the battery had died after being in the car for a few days and realized that the wiring in the car had been completely re-done... in a baaaad way.
I went to work today and talked to a coworker of mine, Tim, about an audi 4000 that he had been wanting ot sell for $800. He said that he'd drop the price down to 500 because he found, after putting in a lighter viscosity oil to check if any seals were seeping, that the front main shaft seal was leaking rather badly. $500 later, the title was in my hand and we were arranging the when and how of getting the thing out to my dad's house in dixon where I can fix it.
If all goes well and there are no unexpected crazinesses I should have a perfectly reliable, running Audi 4000 Quattro to drive when I need it or for when I go up into the snow.
Life today was bitchin. I met Chris Fisher who apparently produced and directed a few movies (yeah he's spent THOUSANDS of dollars at 2Bennett, like tens of thousands), and he and I shot the shit for about an hour while I drove him from the airport to 2Bennett. He liked me and I thought he was pretty cool so we exchanged e-mails and I told him that I'd get him in touch with a friend of mine who is a sound editor. Life can be fucking wierd sometimes, but I'm lucky that I get to live this one.
Haha!
