It's a beautiful night; the sun has just set under the woods, the wind has eased to almost nothing and yet I remain unpestered by insects; I'm sitting out on the sun-warmed cliffs with my cats circling around me, coming up for scritches every now and then; and most of all I'm watching a pair of swans on the other side of the bay with one eye and a(n admittedly choppy) live stream of the world cup final with the other.
Is it too hokey to say this is what makes the rest of the year bearable? I don't care, it's more than that. I'm so, so lucky to have this.
