So remember that other snow storm we had earlier in the week? I needed to go to the grocery store before that. I still hadn't gone so I figured it was on my Must Do list for today. At about 8 this morning, I was abruptly awakened (not from a dream... no asian or scantily-clad brit chicks here) by the sound of a loud crash. My white board in the office had fallen off the wall. Totally random. No chance of getting back to sleep, so I figured I'd get on with it. By the time I'd been properly caffeinated and showered, it was snowing. And things just got weird from there.
- The grocery store was like 285 in rush hour. Total gridlock in the aisles and the registers were backed up when I came in. When I left, there was not even a line at the U-Scan. Yay me, at the Me-Scan.
- There was a guy in Kroger wearing shorts. He didn't appear to have just come from lacrosse practice or anything like that.
- Came home and found something I've been looking for listed on freecycle. And it's in my part of town. I emailed them and got a response telling me to come get it. Yay me, getting stuff I want for free.
- So back out into the blustery weather I go. Along the way I saw two snowmen. (There's what? An inch of snow on the ground?) I also saw an adult-sized person dressed in a dog costume walking down the road. The kind that has the hood part attached and comes up onto their head? Luckily everyone was at the grocery store and not driving because I'd probably have hit someone trying to identify just what in the hell that was. Is there a furry event today? Um, yay me? Seeing... well, nevermind.
- So then I ran across a couple of thrift stores I'd forgotten were there and went in. Not only did I find good purchases at both of them, I found things I'd been looking for for ages! Yay me, finding good stuff at the thrift store. This makes the second time I've found cool stuff so maybe my luck with these places is turning around. No, Scarlett, I didn't even look on the clothes aisles, but I did count 5 different languages being spoken... And like most thrift stores, one had signs in Spanish - but these signs were grammatically correct!
My finger is cracked and it hurts like hell. Anyone have a good remedy for that?
