I just came back from watching The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. At least, I think I just watched a film. I am not sure, I mean, there is a high probability that I went for a drive and just started having massive hallucinations.
I was not familiar with the movie. Master Movie Myles told me he wanted to see this because Terry Gilliam directed and wrote the movie. For those not familiar with Gilliam (where the hell have you been?), look no further than Monty Python, Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Brazil, and Time Bandits. Maybe if I had watched all of these films the prior week, and did nothing else, I would have been more prepared for what I saw.
As many know, this was Heath Ledger's last film. They were actually able to use elements of the story to allow the film to complete, despite the fact he died prior to the end of the film. This was no "Crow" attempt. They simply took the, well, brilliance that is Terry, did a few minor re-writes, and away you go with what can only be called a most wonderful movie experience... or a nice flashback of the last time you did acid and PCP while naked in January in the arctic.
So, all I can say, is if any of beforehand mentioned movies/works were enjoyed by you, then go watch this movie.
