Weekend wrap-up. Plus the marvelous 80s!

Saturday's big ride with reveille_d was a partial success for me.
The longest I've ridden in the last, oh, decade, is the 15 miles I did last Wednesday. It didnt give me any trouble, I wasn't tired afterward. So I figured two 25 mile rides wouldn't be too bad.
The ride down to Gilroy was about 25 miles, and we just blasted through it.
The festival itself was pretty blah. Same as the years before. Except there was no place to buy garlic ice cream. you could only get it free. And the line for that was an hour long at least.
And it was blazing hot, as expected. Had a beer first thing, some garlic marinated mushrooms, some garlic fries, etc. Good stuff, but no protein.
So it was a bit lame. But with the nice long ride, it was a big day regardless, even if the 'main event' was a bit of a let down.

The ride back sucked. Hard. First off, now we'd been in the blazing sun for 8 hours or so. Second, there was this gusting headwind that would blow you to a complete stop if you weren't pedaling into it when it hit. I almost never made it out of first gear, and instead of the 24mph we kept on the way down, barely managed to keep 10mph on the way back.

I made it back past Morgan Hill, but it was obvious that I was slowing Reveille down, and it was going to take forever at the pace I was able to keep. So he went on ahead and came back with the car.
So I didn't make it all the way down and back. I still more than doubled my previous distance. In scorching heat and a strong headwind. I'm more than satisfied.

I drank over a gallon of water Saturday. Plus beer. and food. I still weighed 4lbs less when I got home than when I left that morning. It was a good bit of exercise.

Also, is there anything from the 80's that wasn't amazing?!
