I haven't updated in a long time and haven't been on LJ for like a week, but do yourselves a favor and see this movie:
I think it was for me what There Will Be Blood was for the majority of movie nerds. Despite Evan Rachel Wood's sometimes ridiculous acting....oh my God. I would have this movie's baby if I could. Best one I've seen in the theatre in a long-ass time. Don't let the trailer fool you; like Aronofsky would ever let a soul-affirming ending slip through. (Though I still haven't seen The Fountain.)
I also liked Doubt a lot, but it ain't got nothin' on that shit up there.
P.S.: My Christmas was good; hope yours was, too! My favorite gift was my mom being around this Christmas (and hopefully for years to come).
Oh, also, my mom got me the Obama votive candle I wanted from this local shop a block over. His head is photoshopped onto St. Francis' body. Pretty much like so, except with Obama's head on it and darkened hands, and on a candle holder. It also doesn't say it was originally St. Francis, but I think it was, judging from all the little animals running around at his feet. It's pretty fantastic.
