finals week. I took a page from Sarah's book and went up to Metz this weekend (other side of the country) by slow train to use up a day on my eurrail pass and to force myself to study. It seemed to have worked; I think I knew what was going on on the orthography final, though sometimes you just don't know. The teacher was really nice about explaining two words at the end of the test I had never seen before (hotte and luth - explain the role H plays in them), and he was carefully practicing Chinese and Japanese characters the entire time, so I think he might be kind and take into account the fact that I'm foreign and I didn't know about a third of the data words on the test. I look back and think about the foreigners in my ling classes at cal and I am doubly impressed by them. I have two more cinema finals and I'm done. I have no idea what's going on in the cinema classes (I actually didn't know I was in two of them until last week) but it seems few people do. I wikied up a bunch of pages on Cinema in French, so I should be more than prepared by tomorrow.
I'm so tired right now.. next semester I will remember that 8:00 a.m. classes, even if only once a week, are still half a day too early. Can't go to sleep because I start babysitting at one until five, which seems incredibly long now..
