Life's little challenges

Feb 13, 2007 22:48

So I had the stomach flu. Called my stage manager from the bathroom floor staying close to the porcelain. I was supposed to be on stage playing a major role in a show in a few hours. I know we can't cancel the show, I just want to let you know what's up, I say. We'll have buckets ready back stage, says she. My wonderful hubby goes to Bartell's to get the pink stuff and drives me to the theater so I can hold the barf bowl. He stayed with me through the whole show, patiently waiting to hold my hair back while I wretched my guts out behind the theater between scenes. And he called ME the hero. I think HE wins the real hero award. That was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life, and the only time I had absolutely no fun on stage. It was also, in a weird way, a lesson on focus.
