Oh MY GAWD
So last night, we were required to go on a little tour of Montmartre. For those of you who aren't familiar with French or Modernist history, Montmartre is the birthplace of <> during the late part of the 19th C. and early part of the 20th C. It's where painters like Picasso, Modigliani, Van Gogh, Matisse, Toulouse-Latrec formed a community. It's where the Moulin-Rouge is. It's where the Lapin Agile, of Steve Martin's <
> is located. Anyway, we walked around for about an hour and a half avoiding the disgusting amount of stupid American tourists (Je les desteste!). And then we walked halfway down the hill to this little adorable cafe to sit around drinking our wine and beer and speak in French with native French speakers (and that really cute German kid). Anyway, it's getting late and we need to catch the subway (which closes at 1...say what?!). So we went inside to pay for our drinks. And as we're standing in line, Claudio (the German) turns to me ridiculously excited and says (in French bien sur), Have you seen Amelie? Cause the actor from it is sitting at the table to your right. So I turn and look. AND IT IS! It's Joseph...the guy who plays the jealous ex-lover of Gina and then falls in love with Georgette when prompted by Amelie! And he was just sitting at the table drinking a glass of wine. Claudio went over to him and asked him and complimented him on his films. I wanted to give him his privacy....BUT SO COOL!
