Well, until it was properly diagnosed I really was never entirely sure what I was up against, and Facebook wasn't really the appropriate vehicle for explanations and my general whinges and mutterings. I try to keep on keeping on, but I do get quite depressed from time to time, simply because I have currently lost the ability to do so many of life's little normal things like nipping (or popping) to the shops, sitting on any seat in the flat, relying on a fart to be a fart, getting dressed quickly etc.

I've been off work so long that they will have to review in November and decide if dismissal with 1 year's salary is appropriate (if I'm still off), though I will push to be reassessed by Occ Health for ill-health retirement (yes, my union rep is aware of all this and comes to the meetings I have when my boss comes over.). When I last saw Occ health, I was coming off steroids, had no diagnosis and was in a sunny mood. Bad move, really.

Floren is fantastic. Unfortunately he's not too popular with one of my bezzy mates after a couple of (to my mind, minor) misunderstandings when she stayed with us in Alicante for 10 days last year. This also makes me feel a bit more isolated as she and I have lost some of our former closeness, but that also comes from the change from being a single widder-wumman to living with someone. He makes me happier than in years, puts up well with my mood-swings and has seen me at my worst. He's crap at housework, is a messy beast who can't find things in plain sight, but he cooks well, has a great sense of humour, an enquiring mind, and keeps me fighting on. He's off to Spain for two weeks in September to see his own doctor and to join a family celebration for his mum's 81st birthday. I don't begrudge him these occasional trips, because he comes back with excellent olive oil, cheese, odds and ends and cheap baccy, and gets a chance to see the rest of his family.
