Tonight I had myself a real good time.
First off, I went to Best Buy to browse the goods and see if there were any treasures on sale. For some time now I've been looking for a Queen greatest hits CD that contained both "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Bohemian Rhapsody", but they seem to be nonexistant. Until today... I found a 20-track compilation containing both those songs as well as every single freakin' awesome Queen song I can't live without. Did I mention it was only $13.99? Sweet.
Another lightning bolt of luck struck me when I got home and got a call from Lacey, a manager from Bed Bath and Beyond. I had dropped in the store yesterday and hinted that I was looking for another part time job to work around Coldwater Creek. So Lacey calls me and says "When can you start?" I'm starting Wednesday. This is gonna work wonders for my finances.
This evening, feeling real and not wanting to hang around my mom at my house, I drove down to the marina (Des Moines) just to be. Unexpectedly I arrived just in time to see one of the honest to goodness Most Beautiful sunsets there've been in a long, long time. It just so happens I am fueled by beautiful sunsets, much like Popeye eats his spinach or the opposite of Superman's reaction to kryptonite. Naturally I can't help watching this miraculous Jesus of a sunset transform through every shade of orange from #FF3300 to #FFCC33. Then I turn around to head back, but whoa! the moon is out: a perfectly silver full moon, and it's absolutely huge. The kind that looks like a prop moon from a theater. So here I am, split between the Moulin Rouge moon and the Titanic sunset, and in the distance I see something winging towards the pier: A bald eagle. American magic. It soared just over the pier literally less than 20 feet away from me. A freaking bald eagle.
On the way home, I happened to have the perfect CD in my car to listen to the perfect song, and honestly there couldn't have been a better one.
I felt infinite.
