Things are going well here in the Pacific NW:

I start my class Awareness tomorrow. I'm excited for being in it, but I haven't figured out what I'm going to do my individual project on yet. Options i've been thinking about most include: learning breadmaking (specifically sourdough), studying silence, or learning more about nutrition. It's a bit difficult to decide what to do and how i'll go about it.

I start my new job today as an office assistant in the student activities office. I hope it goes well. I've been working a little at a summer camp as an assistant cook, but the commute is a bit tough to manage, and the timing isn't all that great. Worked well over spring break, though, and maybe i'll still work some weekends there.

I found a new apartment and Cassandra and I moved into it about five days ago or so. It's a tiny little studio just next door to the food co-op which is awesome, and right behind a really cool restaurant. Just one room for the kitchen and bedroom and a little bathroom as well. It was really cool to move away from our old place with its mold and dim lighting and awkward roommate situation. Now we're a few miles from campus but on a busline, we're closer to downtown oly, and i'm finally on a lease and living legally. Most importantly, perhaps, is the fact that my cell phone works at this new apartment. I feel so connected. So those of you who have been calling me, the best idea would probably be to call my cell, and i'll be able to talk if i'm at home. if i don't pick up, it's probably because i'm at campus or somewhere where i don't get service. sorry. Hopefully i'll be able to talk to you all more now.

I managed to talk to my friend Jon from Fort Collins yesterday. He's going to Japan in a few weeks to live and travel for three months. I'm really excited for him, but the crazy part is that he's getting married soon after he gets back to the girl that he's been with for more than five years (sophmore year of high school). I think that that's going to be really cool for those two. Jon is probably the person I would trust most to know at age 21 if he really wants to be married.

I found out the other day that I am not going to be able to afford summer classes at Evergreen seeing as they're about $320 or so per credit and I need four. This leaves me with a couple options. I can stay in oly and go to the community college here for about $83 per credit, or I can go back to steamboat and take something at CMC for just as cheap. I'll probably stay here because i'm on a six-month lease with Cassandra, and things are going well here.

I miss the mountains, though. I would really like to have a summer spent traveling around colorado with friends on days off to backpack and climb 14ers and other beautiful mountains. Looks like I'll be spending it here, though, working and taking a small (hopefully fun) class.

After that, though, I still have no idea what I want to do. If I stay here with Cassandra, what would I do besides work? If I go back to Colorado, where do i go? What will I do there? Oi. This part is the most troublesome.

I hope everything is well with all of you.

Love,

chris
