I was recently in San Francisco during some time off from touring playing Madcap shows and promoting "Under Suspicion". While I was there I had the most interesting night. I'm sure all of you experience days where there is nothing to do and noone is picking up their phone so you are forced to have a good time on your own. I have never really had a problem going out by myself, call me a loner, a loser but it's sometimes nice to not have to please anyone but me. So it was one of those days and as night fell I was getting restless. I just started walking with no direction. I stopped into a pub, got a drink and found the best Jukebox I have ever seen there. I pulled out as much money as I had and poured into this thing. Even the locals thought the music was good that night! before I noticed I was a little drunk and in a great mood. I left the pub and continued on my journey into nowhere, San Francisco. I was singing to myself now out loud and of course in a big city like this one, the minute you start that you will hear someone singing along but not quite right. You 'll turn your head to find a bum walking towards you like he wants to sing with you and be your friend. I told this guy to walk with me knowing that any minute he was going to hit me up for money. We had a good time until he popped the question. No money to give so he took off. I now found the time to be later than I thought and farther from home as well. I turned and headed back. As I walked home I started my drunken dialing (you know you all do it) Started calling every number I had to see who would humor my drunkeness. I got a great friend on the phone who lives up there and told her to meet me at the pub i started out at. We met up, drank a little more, talked about old times and listened to the greatest Jukebox ever. Times like these come and go and no matter how drunk I get I somehow remember every moment, maybe because I was alone and reflecting on so much. I am sure all of you have some great "Alone in the dark" tales. Lets hear them!
