We move like a travelling rock and roll caravan. Through snow, sleet, rain and the occasional beautiful day we hit small towns bringing our music with us and using our hearts as our guides.....
This day my heart brings me to newport news, Va. Last night we played richmond with the digger boys and had a blast but what I really want to tell you about was my first visit to Graceland a few days back. For those of you that don't know Graceland is in Memphis, Tn and was the home of elvis presley for much of his adult life. Going to this place changed something in me. My faith in music was not restored, but made stronger than it has ever been. The house tells a tale of a boy who grew up poor and now to date has sold more than a billion albums. The house was beautiful, filled with items Elvis owned, used and studied. The house was also filled with a soul. You could feel it as you walked the hallways. I got the chills several times as I walked through. I mean here was a guy that had it all and lived the way he wanted. Elvis may have been the first real punk rocker! Some say he died in disgrace but I say he died a legend and a perfect role model. Ive been all over but this was definately one of the more memorable trips. Have any of you been somewhere that changed you or will be with you forever? Let us all know.
P.S. We've now dubbed the tour van "Elvis".
Talk soon,
