This is perhaps the most retarded thing I've read all day (Sorry you'll have to be around people like this this fall, Jenn >.>) http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-christians10apr10,0,6204444. ( Read more... )

Hokay, so. In order for Christians to not feel harassed, they need to harass gay people? wtf? Well, she's graduating, so I won't have to see her, but if the tolerance policy is revoked, they can bet I won't be tolerant towards ignorant people who think they are better than everybody else. Hm... Mebbe they are giving me a crusade for the fall.... >.>

Yes, we all know gay-bashing is a main staple of the Christian faith */sarcasm* Seriously, it would be a HUGE step backward if that lawsuit wins.

Next they'll probably want rights to physically beat anyone who doesn't fit their religious/moral mold and then religious hate groups would probably try to get gays and lesbians fired from their jobs, expelled from their schools etc. *shivers* Sound familiar? Seriously, this is exactly where that sort of thing starts...

I'll join your crusade >.>

I think freedom of expression period is the issue hear, ir's hard to criminalize thought or voice... That get's things all grey... Grey makes things messy... I think it's one thing to say you can't bash gays, I think it's another to say someone can't say anything about someone being gay... I mean not to be an ass but there should be a certain level of room for differeance of opinion... It only seems fair, I think gay rights shouldn't really over extend average rights, if the end goal is to be equal... It's just sort of funny to me that the basis over most minorities arguements is different treatment, so they call for addition different treatment as a means to end the difference... My feelings are simplar with affirmative action ect... I've just always believe to end some thing you have to end it, not perpetuate it... As long as you ask for different treatment, you'll be treated differently...

I just think people, at the least, should just be tolerant. If someone doesn't like gays, fine, whatever. They're entitled to their opinion, no one's expecting acceptance, just tolerance. These people don't just want the right to say what they want, they want to be able to harass people different from themselves. I'm not so sure they'd stop there, to be honest, but that's just me.

Well at the same time, the fact here is that tolerance laws try to encriminate thought or expression... People might be scornful, butt hats sort of the second edge to the sword... Once you start encriminating thought, you open a whole new can o worms... PC and all that jazz, and then that turns into some ugly stuff let me tell you what... I think it should be left to people to resolve issues themselves, rather than bring government into it, there are much more important things any orgainization could be doing than regulating tolerance... After all, if you don't want to tolerate someone in this country you don't have to... I'd like it to stay that way...

I don't look at ya funny. =) But that's probably because I know you and don't make judgements based off appearences. The issue is a christian minority speaking for a christian majority, I think. It's ridiculous anyone thinks intolerance and harassment have any place in an educational institution.
