Interesting... and a bit ranty

So this year has been one of groups and people being let go from Ren Fest. and I keep seeing the same thing over and over, that "...have heard that MN in particular can be really hard on it's cast." or that "alot of things that mnrf does to actors is unfair." Or "They treat the actors very badly"

What the heck are these people talking about? I would like to have some examples of being treated badly or unfairly. Cause from where I am sitting as a cast member, and director of two groups Festival is operating as a business and trying to keep the show going in hard economic times.

To some this fair is a playground or sandbox they get to play in, I am sorry this is a business kids, choices have to be made, sometimes hard choices. This will include firing people that they feel violated policy, are not entertaining, are not fitting with the type of entertainment the festival is moving toward, people that refuse to comply with managements wishes, or people that have a melt down in a shop in front of our paying customers. But these are choices that the Directors have to make, at some point it could be me that they fire; I tell you what I will say "Thank you for allowing me the chance to work here for all this time, and I will look forward to coming out as a patron"

Another news flash for folks out there, we CHOOSE to do this if you feel it is unfair, or difficult or any other negative then simply do not do the festival. No more explanation needed, if you are not happy with the way the ED or owner is running festival then do something else during August and September.

Let the rain of comments begin!
