Children of the Earth - Spoilers

This is my review/rant - although short and probably not too coherent because I’m stilling a state of denial and shock.

It was an excellent start! I loved the feel of it and the camaraderie between the team.  Loved Rhys, Andy, and Ianto's family were just great.

Really enjoyed the relationship building with Jack and Ianto and learning more about their backgrounds.  Guess that should have been the first clue. The next one was when Ianto and Jack were talking about his longevity and Jack having to watch Ianto die of old age. DING! Could there have been a bigger sign than that?

As promised it was a rollercoaster ride of emotions that took us on a journey. However, the destination was a bit of a kick in the head that left us with a broken heart.

The acting was the best I’ve seen from John, Gareth and Eve and I applaud their performances.

I have a beef with Mr Barrowman because he promised we would love it and be very happy with what we saw. He said we would love what was happening with Jack and Ianto and then we got our fucking hearts ripped out.

At Torchsong, both John and Gareth discussed with us they would be happy to resign for another season and even went as far as talking about different formats. Great actors, yeah.  They pulled off a great show for us. Not the actors fault I know, it’s the writers I have my real grievances with. I am and will always be fans of both John and Gareth.

When I first started watching this show I loved it and that feeling just kept getting stronger. I adoredthe budding relationship building between Jack and Ianto throughout season two and was jumping with joy to see how far it had come in this new season.

And finally, finally we get to hear the ‘L’ word and they throw it back at us. Not a happy camper here I tell you. RTD has done the unforgivable in my book. I know nobody is expendable but Ianto is an integral part of the team and the show. What made him more expendable than Gwen or Rhys. Losing Tosh and Owen was hard and it hurt but there really was much more to Ianto.

His character had a big following and I am among them. As much as I love John I don’t think I could watch a new season if it comes about. I will still follow John in his other endeavours because I just love that man but it will be the end of Torchwood for me. I’ve already seen the outrage and the pouring out of emotions over this and it’s huge.

The Day Five came along and it was a tear jerker just like Day Four but just in a different way. Poor Jack, the sacrifices he’s had to make in all his lifetimes.  But this is Jack’s life, he always ends up losing the ones he loves. Now he is a broken and shattered man and leaving the Earth. Leaving the man he was behind.

But RTD did more than kill Ianto Jones and break poor Jack to pieces.

HE KILLED TORCHWOOD!!!
