Did I pay rent?
My rent check hasn't cleared yet? WTF?
We actually made money (like $140 which all went to gas and stuff) at the San Jose show. Our shows/funds go something like this:
-2 shows in IV: out like $70 each time to rent PA, no possibility of income (free shows)
-Show at Allen Theatre: free, still no money made
-Show at Cobalt Cafe: Sold pre-sale tickets to friends, not enough, lost I think $80
-Show at Cobalt Cafe: Sold pre-sale tickets, a lot, AND CDs AND drew at door = broke even
-Show in San Jose with big metal scene: $90 plus $50 from CDs
Then we're playing at the Whisky tomorrow. At this rate we should make a wad of cash, right? Wrong. We're participating in "Headbang for the Highway", this like, pan-American battle of the bands (which we qualified for, so there) who decided to have all the bands in our region go to the Whisky, which makes you sell 50 tickets (at $10 each) or pay them $500. The tickets are to pay yourself back the $500, but they're really just to give you false hope, like those fundraisers in Jr. High.
So yes. Such is the life of a rock star.
