Shattered Expectations

It has been a crazy few weeks for me. This summer has not been going according to plan at all.

First off, my application to the graduate program at UNT was rejected. I know. WTF. The department is working with me, and I have a few options to work on, but for the time being I am not going to be going to school in the fall. That really depresses me. I'm still really pumped about going back to school, but its looking like I am going to have to push it back until the spring.

So that means in the meantime I may be stuck at Carino's. This will not fly at all. I'm looking for a new, more grown-up, job now, but its slow going. Right now I'm looking into jobs that get me using what Japanese I know, like with international programs or, as my sister has suggested, with some of the larger hotels in the Dallas area. I haven't had any bites so far, but hopefully something will pan out for me.

And my final paycheck from NOVA that I have been counting on for months to get me through the summer is now, it seems, trapped in Japan. Emily tried to get my money out, and the machine denied her, saying my card was not usable. So she's sending it back to me and I'm going to try to access my account through UFJ's Houston office. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to do short of going back to Japan and dealing with UFJ face-to-face.

It is all very, very frustrating.

July is looking to be a long month. Zora has been staying with Katie and I for a while now, and its been fun, but she'll be happy to leave on Saturday and I'll be happy to have some peace and quiet. Max was in town staying with me for a few days this week, but he's down in Waco for the next few weeks for a debate camp so I won't be seeing him again until the end of the month. Katie starts Calculus II on Monday and she'll be extra bitchy about this class because it's a morning one so that'll be a whole lot of fun to deal with. And work continues to be work. Ugh.

BUT I do have my tickets for the 12:15 showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on Wednesday and I am super excited about that. And my parents are still working on the car loan stuff, but things are looking up on that front too.

Ah, we'll see how it goes...
