Of Diva's Wealth, and her New Pad

Jul 09, 2009 12:37

So! Diva is a very rich girl. There are only a few people, I think, that know why, so I thought I would make an actual post to clear it up. Her extensive wealth comes from three main places:
1) Cinq Flèches
2) Inheritance
3) Her job(s)

The first is the company once owned by Solomon and Amshel. Cinq Flèches itself is a pharmaceutical company, but it is a hydra of a business, since it's actually comprised of hundreds of corporations with different names. These businesses range from food production to high-tech industries. Now, since in realityshifted's canon, all of Diva's Chevalier (except Nathan) are dead, this left a revived Diva with the ownership of these companies. Diva is not a businesswoman, and was advised to sell off most of these companies, but keep ownership Cinq Flèches, but pass along the actual control of the company to someone else. Which she did! She sold these hundreds of companies to their individual business heads, and while most of the money she just funneled back into Cinq Flèches, she did keep a portion of it for herself. While "portion" sounds small, it was actually quite a lot of money. In addition, she still recieves a steady, and substantial stream of income from Cinq Flèches.

Second is inheritance. Of her Chevalier, three of them were independently wealthy. Amshel had nearly two centuries of his own fortune, Solomon was the CEO of Cinq Flèches, and James was a US Navy General (I thiiiiiink, point is, he was high up in the ranks). I can't imagine Diva would have been the first to inherit their money, but since the only person before her would have be Amshel, she recieved all of their money.

Finally, Diva generates her own income, though she doesn't really need to at this point. Before her final performance, Diva was highly advertised, and in both canons, her show was sold out and a full-house performance. Then, after the unusual circumstances that she appeared to have lived through a "disaster", she was even more interesting as a celebrity. As such, she does a lot of odd jobs in between her roles in opera, including modeling, and simply appearing for interviews (did you know people get paid big money for those? crazy) and photos. While dwarfed by the rest of her wealth, it's still another source of fairly steady income. In her world, Diva is a celebrity.

So, the point is, Diva has money to spare on stupid luxuries. Which, for her, is usually clothes.

Because of some recent events, Diva has decided to purchase another home, and Diva decided that she wanted to live, quite literally, like royalty. So she bought one of the most lavish and expensive houses on the market.

"Updown Court is a private residence in Windlesham, Surrey, England and was,
in 2006, the most expensive private residence on the market. It is the largest
private residence to be built in the United Kingdom since the 19th century."

Unfortunately, I can't give as detailed a guide as Villa Madrona, but Wikipedia gives this brief rundown:
"Entered by a heated marble driveway, Updown Court has 103 rooms, of which 24 are bedrooms, each with its own marble en-suite bathroom. Among other features, it has a two-lane bowling alley, five swimming pools, a squash court, a floodlit tennis court, a wine cellar, and a panic room in case of a terrorist attack. There are 5 acres (20,000 m2) of more than 30 different types of imported Italian marble, expansive terraces, and a 50-seat cinema. It also features an underground garage, with granite flooring, that has enough room for eight limousines. The first floor is the main residential area, featuring eight generous bedroom suites. The penthouse floor contains two separate penthouses, each with two bedrooms and occupies an entire wing of the property.Updown Court is set in the centre of 58 acres (230,000 m2) of grounds, gardens and woodland."

In addition, there are videos about the interior. So!

And there you go! The house is furnished to Diva's liking, which would be a classical, royal look, with some modern pieces, but not many.

And, don't forget, because of the properties of mergers, Villa Madrona will be following her. She, of course, will not be pleased by this development, but what can you do?
