I really don't agree that Hakkenden deserves such a horrid review.
http://friendlyneighborhoodanimereviews.tumblr.com/post/47152522952/hakkenden-touhou-hakken-ibun-review I haven't read the manga myself, but most-if not all- of the things she claims were not touched on in the anime were stuff I understood. Like the issue with Sousuke turning into a dog. Even if it wasn't expressly said, (probably was, I might've just forgotten) but it's pretty damn obvious that it's because Sousuke has half a soul (a fact that has been stated one too many times in more than two, three eps) and the other half of his soul is Yoshiro's- Shino's dog.
My point is, though the anime wasn't the best in the world and surely had areas it could've improved on LIKE ANY OTHER DAMNED ANIME, I honestly don't think it deserved such a horrible review by a fan who didn't even pay attention to it while watching the blessed thing. Before you do any review, please remove all your personal biases first. And maybe then you can write about it more sensibly.
And if you detest yaoi so much, don't bother watching Hakkenden, as part of what made the series enjoyable was fanservice aimed at BL fans.
There are so many anime out there. If you hate the series so much, please save yourself and its fans the unnecessary stress and go watch something else.
