work was fun. we crowned jeff the valentine king. i did the valentine boogie. (keep in mind i'm the youngest person there by probably 5 years at least.) i got to make signs and enforce good rules and help people. that's what i like to do.

the weekend was alright. friday work was devoted to preparing for the HBYS donation gala, the Doorway of Hope Dinner. This is a $5,000 a plate event held to raise money for us, i think mostly from a bunch of rich fucks who need a tax deduction and a less painful existence. It is a big deal though, the surgeon general of the u.s. was there (he used to be homeless), and a bunch of other important people. It was held at the Arizona Biltmore, who happens to be three umbrellas fewer than before they saw the likes of me. I've never seen anything like the Biltmore, it was the epitome of wasteful opulence and was just plain phony. Not to mention that we recruited a group of bored, rich, housewives who Leah and i like to refer to as "The Fancy Ladies" to take care of the displays and presentation of things. Awful people, hope to never have to deal with them again. Every stereotype you could have of these people was supported that morning.
Blatant Classism. I'm an asshole.
Sooo...friday night Gabriel (yaaaay, he came out!!!) and Alia came over with an awful box of wine and we sat on my balcony and talked about weird things. we then went in search of bars. it was rainy. they peed in a church yard. gabe took us to casey moores which is a pretty decent place. a bar that was once a house in the middle of my neighborhood that has pear cider on tap. we forgot to pay. seriously. we didn't realize it until we were at the mexican place.
saturday diana and i went to get free furniture. from a guy named randy.

i got the ugliest futon in arizona. we had dinner at her house and invited some others over, and slimy boy weasled his way in too. i'll devote a post to him some day soon. but he fried plantains, so eeehhh.... they were tasty.
sunday....i think i wasted it. i remember talking to elliott, i bought a lot of stuff.

tonight i potted the aloe vera that i got at the co-op. i picked the poi back up after not touching them for a long time. the ceiling in the apartment is high enough to practice inside--i'm gonna start practicing a lot again. haven't been to a bellydance class since mid-january. i have to wait for the next session to begin in a couple of weeks. i just can't believe how lazy i am. one could argue that if i really cared about these things i would want to work on them all the time, but i don't think that's true. i mean, if such was the case, sitcom reruns on fox and the internet would be the two most important parts of my life, with drinking expensive coffeedrinks and spacing out to follow. but that's not true. there are a lot of things I would like to be able to do or would like to compel myself to do on a regular basis, but it's all about finding the energy and the motivation and the starting point. however, impressing others or trying to catch up with others doesn't really cut it, and apparently neither does self-satisfaction or personal growth or fun or just plain usefulness. but hey, done with this rant.

i haven't heard nearly enough about the x-rated party. i want more!
